Biotechnology is defined as the subset of techniques modifying living organisms (or part thereof), which transform organic substances or use process for producing a new knowledge or for producing products and services.
On the other hand, the Convention on Biological Diversity of Rio de Janeiro (1992) also defines Biotechnology as “Any technological application using biological systems, living organisms or derivatives for producing or modifying products or processes for specific use”.
